Sisterhood Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for DOWNHILL. This campaign is expected to run for 30 days with a goal of $27,089. If successful, the studio hopes to release the game by October 2026.
As of this writing, the campaign has 198 backers with total pledges of $7,944.
There are some interesting offers. The Early Bird tier for example gives supporters a Steam copy of DOWNHILL. It's available for about $11. The highest is Nightbringers, priced at just a little over $6,000. In addition to getting a digital copy of the game, the tier also lets supporters co-design a boss and be part of the beta access. It also offers an extra copy of the game on Steam that can be gifted to a friend.
DOWNHILL is a 2D action RPG that pulls players in through the 4th wall and lets them join the narrative. That’s because the main character Fade, fully acknowledges the control players have of her.
The idea of power and its abuse is what lies at the core of DOWNHILL. In most RPG’s, each time a session is started, players get to take full control of a character. The game however asks the questions of what happens if that same character had a will of their own. In addition, what if this same will clash with how players envision their playthrough.
Controlling Fade
You see, Fade grew up in an isolated temple and now has to go on her first-ever journey in an attempt to save the realm from an unnatural disaster. Of course such undertaking leaves her quite anxious. While the presence of the players can bring her comfort, it can also result in making things so much worse.
How players treat Fade throughout the game and the extent to which they use their power over her affects the relationship they have with her. This also has an impact on how the story unfolds.
