NEOWIZ announced that it has entered into an agreement with Chinese indie game developer Shadowlight for the rights to be the publisher for Kill the Shadow. This is the first title to come out from the developer. It's a narrative-focused and suspenseful adventure game that focuses on a detective having time-rewinding abilities. The game features unique aesthetics that's able to combine high-definition 3D environments with 2D pixel characters.
In a statement, NEOWIZ Co-CEO Kim Seung-chul shared that what drew them to the game was the "collaborative development philosophy" of delivering premium narrative games. He added that they look forward to working with the development team and hope that players can find the same charm that they experienced. Meanwhile, the CEO of Shadowlight revealed that they're grateful to have found a partner that shares their "philosophy on game development."
Meet the Detective
Kill the Shadow is a suspenseful narrative-driven detective puzzle game. Players get to take on the role of a detective named Lucas as they investigate a series of bizarre murders happening in different areas of the dark water city. There's the missing Master Ruan at the temple fair, the sudden death of the dog Lucky, the grudges at the Shipwreck, and the dismembered limbs in the sewers.
Choose Freely
Players can freely choose to enhance their abilities whether it's strength, spirit, or charm. They can select their own methods to investigate cases. There's also the Deduction System where players can collect, analyze, and connect related clues to create their own unique investigation path.
As mentioned, the main character of the game has time-rewinding abilities. This is owe to what's known as "The Shadow." This strange creature is attached to Lucas and reads memories and reconstructs the traces of the deceased.
Meeting the People
As players go about their investigation, they get to meet different characters in the city. There’s the energetic girl with a camera and the elegant Agnes Ruan. They can also meet the rumored goddess said to be able to cast spells. Then there’s the elderly fish-selling lady. No matter who it is, it’s up to the players to discover the stories behind them.
